City of Fresno Mayor’s Gang Prevention Initiative
The City of Fresno experienced a surge in gang crime in 2006. Violent street gangs are responsible for over 50% of murders and shootings in the City of Fresno. In order to address the prevention and intervention needs, the Mayor and the Chief announced the Mayor’s Gang Prevention Initiative (MGPI).
The goal of MGPI is to prevent youth crime, violence and gang involvement while developing a positive working relationship between law enforcement, schools, families, and young people to create a safer community. In furtherance of the goal, MGPI works closely with law enforcement to identify gang members wanting to leave the lifestyle, helping them gain the necessary skill set to gain employment, and providing services needed to help them become successful and productive citizens.

I think its good that how the city is trying to prevent gangs in schools. Gangs are always shooting and killing each other and there families. They are always up to no good.
this is a brillant idea. Gangs should not be allowed anywhere, especially schools
This is a good idea because gangs are a very dangerous thing and kids at school shouldn't be affect by other people making a choice to be in a gang.
Gangs are a major distraction and should especially be permitted in the learning environment. In public, gangs tend to cause trouble for others and I think that it is helpful that the city is trying to prevent fights, shootings, ect in school.

I think its a good idea how the ity is trying to prevent gangs. Innocent people risk their lives because of gang violence.
I think it is a great thing that the city is trying to prevent gangs. These are extremely scary things and i think it is so wonderful that our city is trying to get rid of them.

Gangs kill more people than you may think. they threaten the media to not report who they killed or what they do. the less gangs, the better. if there are less gangs in the world, then it would be so much safer.
